In support of the UK Butterfly Monitoring Scheme (UKBMS) East Meon Nature is running a weekly walk (transect) on the same pathway (see associated map) to monitor and count the various species of butterflies. These weekly walks run from 1st April to the end of September each year.
There are specific conditions for completing the walk with regard to the amount of sun, the time of day, the temperature and the strength of the wind. So picking the best day of the specific week to meet these criteria is critical.
The meadows at the top of the transect have a good number of wild chalkland flowers where we are hoping to find some interesting species.
